If you want free cloud storage, you can use freemium services or keep files on your own disk and server. Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive sell space and sync; here you find personal cloud, backup, and peer-to-peer sync — official links only, with no installer hosted on this site.

Self-hosting needs setup; Big Tech apps are more “plug and play.” In return you cut paid quotas and, in many cases, get encryption the provider cannot read. Start small and plan a backup of Nextcloud itself (or equivalent) before migrating everything.
